At the GSA (Gerontological Society of America) conference over the last weekend I visited the Johns Hopkins University Press booth and lo and behold! Forget Memory is listed in the spring 09 catalog! I shifted the “About” column to feature the blurb/reviews and the ordering info. It’s been a long time in coming – so it’s really gratifying to see the flyers and the catalog…
Thanks again to all those who helped me shape this book. I interviewed tons of folks and profiled some incredible programs. I’m so excited to start spreading the word about just how much great work is being done out there in the shifting field of dementia care.
Congratulations. Is your book available to order now, or not until June 09? I’m looking forward to seeing your book. I was at a conference in Toronto in mid-November and one thing that was emphasized BY people with dementia is that it’s all they can do to stay in the present, so stop trying to constantly drag them in to the past!!
I’d be pleased if you would take a look at my web site http://www.eldercareread.com. I just published a book two weeks ago; it’s a book of photos, text and discussion questions for people with moderate to advanced dementia to see, read and talk about with a partner-in-care or by themselves. While there are “Tell me a memory” questions in the discussion questions for each photo, I was emphatic about only including photos of scenes from present-day life, not from the 1930s!
Congratulations again — it’s a great feeling isn’t it!
Anne,
Congratulations! Can’t wait to read your book!
